Since Damien and I were on our own this year for Thanksgiving, I took us to a Thanksgiving buffet on Langley. I chose the earliest time which was 11oo so I could get Damien down for a nap at a decent time. There was only one other family at the buffet for the first 30-40 minutes, but it worked out well because the food was good (the desserts were EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD) and Damien got a good nap in afterwards.

Damien and I before the buffet. He wasn’t too thrilled about taking a picture at the time 🙂
Damien picked out his own dessert — red velvet cake with chocolate and cream cheese frosting!
While Damien did eat most of the cake himself, I did help a little.
Another picture! We’re just getting ready to leave.

I know it’s early, but since I have a 4-day weekend it felt like a great time to decorate the house for Christmas. Damien really loves the Christmas lights.

The finished product. I had to wait until Damien was asleep to decorate the tree.
This is what Katrina did while I put the lights and ornaments on the tree. Such a good helper!
From today. Katrina likes to camp out under the tree.

I know we’ve been asked a couple of times what Damien wants/needs for Christmas this year. He’s all set for clothes and he already has winter clothes, hats, and gloves. It’s hard to say what he likes because it’s always changing.

And I do have some really great news–Scott will be able to fly to Virginia to spend Christmas with us this year! I haven’t told Damien yet because I don’t need to hear about it for the next 3 weeks, but I’m very excited 😀

It’s All Fun & Games

I’m always looking for something new for Damien and me to do so we’re not just sitting at home. And it makes the day go by faster. Unfortunately, it never seems to make Damien tired. Oh he sleeps just fine at night and during his afternoon naps, but the rest of the time is spent driving me crazy. Today, I took him to the Sandy Bottom Nature Park where we took the .75 mile walk around the lake. The weather was great and the view was pretty. We also looked at some snakes at their Nature Center.

I also put a couple of games on his tablet for him to try. He really seemed to like this game where he has to tap on the falling “monsters” and they throw in good guys that you’re not supposed to tap and if you do, you lose. I took a short video of that.

Damien Goes to the Dentist

I took Damien to the dentist for a routine cleaning and exam. This was his second time to the dentist since I also took him to the Ramstein Dental Clinic when he was 18 months old. I now have him enrolled in a dental plan so I was able to choose a pediatric dentist because they’re used to dealing with kids. I was very impressed with Damien’s behavior. He was calm and listened very well during the whole cleaning. By the time the actual dental doctor came around though he was starting to get impatient but luckily it was almost done at that point. His teeth are healthy, but they are crowded for baby teeth and his bite doesn’t close normally which may be due to using a pacifier when his teeth were coming in. I was told usually for baby teeth there’s enough space in between where flossing isn’t necessary, but it is with Damien’s teeth. So in a nutshell it sounds like Damien may have inherited my mouth. Oh well, can’t win them all. At least I can say I’ve never had a cavity.

More Things To Do

Damien and I took advantage of the nice weather this weekend and went to the Bluebird Gap Farm on Saturday and to the McDonald’s indoor playground on Sunday. The Bluebird Gap Farm is a free petting zoo and playground and Damien loved it. He could care less about the animals, but he loves the outdoors. I do like that Virginia has lots of things to do and mild winters. Maybe this place isn’t so bad after all.

Damien is more interested in the sticks than the animals.
I think he spent almost an hour climbing around on this playground equipment.
An action shot to capture his unstoppable energy. This was at McDonald’s.

Happy Halloween!

I took Damien Trick-or-Treating for the first time this Halloween. We just walked up and down our street, but he seemed to enjoy it. The temperature was over 70 degrees last night so we were a little warm which I wasn’t expecting.  I may have mentioned before that Damien was initially scared of his dragon costume, but I’ve been working to slowly get him used to it for the past week so he is okay with wearing it now for short periods of time. He liked to stomp around and roar loudly, but I wasn’t really able to capture that in a video so I just posted one where I’m talking to him just trying to get him to act like he usually does…which is very vocal and active.

Damien when he was finally excited wearing his costume!
All set to go Trick-or-Treating!
Damien’s stash of candy.
Damien put on my cat ears. Apparently he’s channeling Derek Zoolander LOL
