Date Day and the Noise Factor

December 28th was the one and only day that both Scott and I didn’t work and the daycare was open to take Damien. This meant we had a date day ūüôā We ate lunch at one of our favorite restaurants and then we drove out to Zweibrucken for the first time to visit their outlet mall. It’s about a 35 min drive and the shopping was pretty decent. We bought a few things for ourselves and headed back in good time to pick up Damien. I’m pretty bummed out that Scott is leaving on Thursday, but I think I’ll be able to make a trip up to the UK with Damien in March or April for a few days to do some sightseeing in London.

In other news, Damien is so freaking LOUD. I’ve decided he takes after the Hanks family for his booming voice. What I mean by that is his voice CARRIES and he’s so vocal–even when he’s eating! I took a video of him playing with his toys this morning. Yes, he has this energy (and usually worse) for most of the day…Please help me…LOL…

Damien the Artist

As part of my early spring-cleaning, I went through all of Damien’s artwork from daycare to save the ones I liked the best. Here are my favorites. This is only a fraction of what he did, but I had to part with the rest of it. I really like how the teachers have the kids use various tools like leaves, branches,¬†loofahs, stamps, cotton balls, etc to create the pictures. Almost everything below was created after he moved into the toddler room at daycare so between the Sept-Dec timeframe.

Damien received a Dora coloring book for Christmas so we all sat down as a family to color a picture. Scott was¬†surprisingly¬†competitive¬†with it saying he was very good at coloring. His picture is on the left. Yes, I agree he’s good at coloring. Mine is in the middle. As you can probably guess, Damien’s is on the right.

Merry Christmas!

Scott, Damien, and I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day together.

Here’s a picture from Christmas Eve. This is Scott and Damien on Skype with Rob and Robin. We then called my parents and Damien opened his presents from them: clothes, a¬†Sesame¬†Street bus, Cars-themed Pez, and a picture viewer.

Christmas Day was a little more eventful. Damien woke us up around 5:30 AM…After breakfast, Damien opened the rest of his presents.

Here’s a video of the events. Warning–it’s over 10 min long! And don’t mind Scott…he was a little bit picture-happy.

Here is Scott and Damien playing with his new bubble gun…We also colored in his new coloring book and played with homemade play-dough that I made the other day. He was busy today!

After opening presents, we went over to one of Scott’s coworker’s home to eat Christmas brunch. It was delicious. We didn’t stay very long after we ate though so we could put Damien down for his nap. Plus, Damien feels he must touch everything which gets old real fast. I made dinner and dessert tonight for Christmas dinner. We had ham, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, and sugar cookies. It was my very first time making scalloped potatoes and sugar cookies. Everything turned out great except for the sugar cookies…even though they look good from the picture. Oh well, can’t win them all.

IMG_0090So that was our Christmas this year. Damien has been playing with all of his new toys. Thank you everyone who sent something. I know I still have a few things on the way in the mail too.

Holiday Party and Trains

Friday night was Scott’s squadron holiday party. Basically it was the only time this year we actually dressed up. Better late than never. I also can’t remember when the last time I wore a dress. The party was just okay. People were rowdy and the games and gifts were pretty lame compared to other years. Still a nice evening and the food was really good. We won a $25 gift card- woo!

Tonight, I brought out Damien’s train set. It was a gift from Rob and Robin from Christmas last year, only now he’s old enough to enjoy it. I tried to get a video because he was SO cute paying with it and making ‘choo choo’ noises, but I think he intentionally¬†sabotages all my videos.¬†¬†I’m lucky just to get a couple photos to turn out. Oh, and I’d like to mention he’s wearing his new slipper socks. I ordered them online for him for Christmas and gave them to him early.

All aboard!

Family Photos

Scott won’t be here for Christmas this year, but luckily we took some photos before he heads out for the UK on Sunday. I don’t think we’ve taken a photo with all three of us together since June. I’m not particularly a fan of how I look in the family photos…I think I look a little heavy, but in no time at all I’ll be glad I have them so I can remember us how we were at this time in our lives. Isn’t Damien HUGE? He’s only two! And yes, I’ll say it…He’s the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen in my whole entire life ūüėÄ I’m sure I’ll get more pictures of Damien around Christmas, but Scott will be greatly missed…

Playing in the Snow

I’m still learning how to make posts on this new website. Scott showed me how to add a video, but apparently I don’t remember because I can only add a link. Anyways, we got some snow on Friday so I took Damien out today to play. I think this is the first time he’s had the opportunity to really play in snow. He fought me the whole time while trying to get on his snowpants, boots, coat, and hat, but he really enjoyed himself once he got outside. It’s a short video. Basically, Damien loves picking up balls of snow…and walking around holding it…He loves to stop and pick up rocks all the time too, which is why in this video he says what he has is a rock.

Damien’s New Hairstyle

I bought new hair clippers for kids the other day in an attempt for Damien to have a somewhat decent haircut. There was a lot of length cut off and I noticed that it’s not exactly perfect, but I think it looks better than the “bowl” cut he was sporting before. If you’re curious as to what it looked like before, check out previous pictures of him on the blog.
