Fall Festival and Pumpkin Carving

On the 16th, Damien and I went to the annual Fall Festival with Robbie, Naomi, and Sarah. It was a little bit chilly this year, but ended up warming up as the day went on. We had a great time!

Damien is SO excited for Halloween! He’s been watching all the spooky shows on Netflix like The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. He wants to watch ANYTHING with a zombie in it.

Damien’s awesome pumpkin picture that he drew at school

Today we finally got around to carving Damien’s pumpkin. He’s been begging for a Jack-O-Lantern for the past week or so.

P01
It was a thick pumpkin and Scott had a heck of a time carving it
P02
Damien didn’t want to touch the inside

Damien requested a happy face 😀

And he named him Jack!

Last Evening in Town

The Colonial Williamsburg (Columbus Day) adventure was also Rob and Robin’s last day in town. Damien was upset that they had to leave and kept asking me about it like I could somehow change it. He had the best time with everyone.

Thank you to everyone for making it a memorable trip <3

Colonial Williamsburg on Scott’s 30th Birthday

On Scott’s 30th birthday, we all went to visit the historic Colonial Williamsburg (except for Damien who was in school on Columbus Day). The weather was absolutely perfect and you can just walk around the revolutionary city for free. Scott and I would love to go back sometime with a ticket to go inside the buildings and participate in the tours. You’d definitely need a few days to be able to see everything though!

01
This particular windmill was built in 1957.
02
The Governor’s Palace. The original was built in 1722, but of course there was a fire…

George Wythe’s House. He was the first professor of law at an American college and the first Virginian signer of the Declaration of Independence. He also was a tutor and friend of Thomas Jefferson.

The buildings with a flag and a costumed person required a ticket for entry.
08
Bruton Parish Church. It’s been around for 300 years and still has services!

There were all sorts of tombstones and such surrounding the church yard.

Taking a much needed break. This is the last picture taken before my camera battery died.

Great day! And Robin made us a delicious, creamy cheesecake at Scott’s request for this birthday. Yay!

Sarah’s 1st Birthday!

Not only did Rob and Robin come down for Sarah’s one-year old Safari-themed birthday party, but also Naomi’s mom and older sister, Priscilla.

House Guests!

Earlier this month Rob and Robin flew down for a week which was so nice. Since Robbie, Naomi, and Sarah just moved here, we were able to spend some good quality family time together.

They’re so cute together! Damien will tell me when Sarah likes something haha

Damien had a blast spending time with his Grampy. He’s the first person he asked about when he woke up…and THEN he’d ask to use his ipad to play Plants vs. Zombies lol.

Lazy Weekends and High Tide

We’ve been busy over the last month so I’m finally getting around to posting my pictures!

This is what I see when I come downstairs if I get to sleep in on the weekends 🙂

Playing Monopoly Jr.

I was very nervous at the end of September when faced with both El Nino and Hurricane Joaquin. I think with stores running out of supplies and gasoline with the crowds of people are what made me so concerned. Luckily the hurricane ventured east so we only had to deal with a few hours of high tide on a Sunday (4 Oct). The water was deep enough in some spots that you couldn’t drive through it but other parts were perfectly fine.

IMG_0968
Of course Damien wanted to play outside in the water…

I spoke with Damien’s Kindergarten teacher and have already received his first progress report. So far he’s earned himself a “Satisfactory” rating in all categories to include “Conduct” and she said he’s adjusting well. He’s also made friends with three other boys and is still happy to go to school each morning. I’m so proud of him! Now we’re just working on his behavior at home because he tends to get into these controlling/bossy/defiant moods that I find almost unbearable. I’ve been working hard to correct this and I do see some improvement but I know it’s going to be an ongoing process.
